My Top 5 Ways to Prepare for Your Wedding Day Makeup

Wedding planning in general can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to prepping for your glam! There’s a lot of conflicting information out there, and if you’ve never been to a wedding or planned one before, it can be super confusing. Don’t worry boo, I got you! Here are my top 5 best tips on prepping for wedding day glam:

  1.  Book your hair and make-up as soon as you can! The best ones get booked up sometimes over a year in advance, seriously! As soon as you know your wedding date and venue, start reaching out for quotes and availability. The chances that you will find someone whose work you love two months before your wedding date is slim, especially during peak wedding season. If your hair and makeup are at the top of your priorities, don’t procrastinate!
  2. Splurge, don’t save! Weddings are expensive, I completely get it! But when it comes to your wedding day, hair and make-up are not something that you want to skimp on. Trust me! If your budget is tight, find other areas that you can cut corners on but if the difference between having your dream makeup artist and a random artist your cousin Shannon recommended is only $100, I promise you… Splurge!
  3.  Schedule a trial. Once you book your make-up artist, scroll through their portfolio and save a few of your favorite photos of their work. You can also check out Pinterest for some inspiration photos. It’s best to have some sort of idea of what look you’re going for before you arrive for your trial. Photos are always welcomed! From there, your make-up artist should be able to create a customized look that complements all of your best features! Wear the makeup look around all day to test how it wears throughout the day, photographs, and if you’d like to change anything regarding your final look. At the end of the day, report your feedback back to your make-up artist so they can take note of any changes you may ask for and adjust accordingly for the big day!
  4.  Start working on your best skin now! Makeup can only look as good as the skin underneath it. My goal as an artist is never to cover you up, I enhance your natural beauty! Start taking the time to build an excellent and consistent skincare routine so that by the time your wedding day arrives, your skin is in its best condition. Regular facials, dermaplaning, and exfoliation are also great ways to treat your skin. The earlier you start, the better! Drink tons of water and take your vitamins.
  5.  After your trial, ask your makeup artist their recommendation on what products you should purchase to be able to touch up throughout the night. Purchasing the lip shade they use on you is a must! You may also want to purchase the translucent powder and oil blotting sheets to keep your and your bridesmaids’ faces looking fresh and perfect until the end of the night.
